    Series of Rate Collection books kept by the Rates Department of Cork City Council recording payment of city/municipal rates, up to 1961 and poor rates up to c.1941, by the occupiers and/or owners of property within the Cork City area.

    The information recorded in the volumes includes: No. of Rating; Address and Description of Tenement/Property; Name of Owners / Occupiers; Rateable Valuation; Rate for that Year; Arrears; Total Demanded; Arrears paid; Remarks. Some volumes have a page index to streets. Many volumes have a signed copy of the General Warrant to Collect and Levy Rates signed by the Lord Mayor, City Manager, Town Clerk and City Solicitor.

    A useful adjunct to the Valuation Lists for Cork City.

    Arranged into 5 sub series according to groupings of Cork City urban districts/ wards which are numbered 1 to 7. (Material for Ward Nos. 8 to 10 has not yet been acquired)

    3 North East Ward
    4 North Ward
    5 South and East Ward
    7 West Ward also incorp. (4A) North West and (5A) part of South from 1955-61
