  • Administrative History ↴

Dún Laoghaire Summer Festival was founded in 1976 to promote and encourage community life in Dún Laoghaire Borough, with local groups and organisations invited to participate in the festival programme. In February 1976, a number of people including representatives of the Regional Tourist Office and Bord Fáilte met in the Royal Marine Hotel, Dún Laoghaire to discuss the possibility of a local festival. From this meeting, the Dún Laoghaire Summer Festival was arranged and organised with the support of a large number of organisations and individuals in the borough. The festival ran from the 1970s into the 1980s.
