    Hilda Buckley was born in the 1930s. Her grandfather was from England and worked as a linotype operator (typesetting) in The Cork Constitution newspaper. Hilda worked in the Cork Steam Packet Company (known as B&I Line) as a secretary and she lived at Southern Road, Cork. She was involved in the beginnings of ballet in Cork, including the Cork Ballet Group (from 1947-1953) and the Cork Ballet Company (from 1954). She performed as a dancer in several productions, including roles alongside Joan Denise Moriarty. Died 22 October 2006.

    Items 1 – 13: Personal scrapbooks compiled by Hilda Buckley relating to Cork Ballet Group, covering each year from 1947-1953, plus Cork Ballet Company 1954-1992 (13 items).
    Items 13 – 17: Scrapbooks re. Irish National Ballet, 1974-1988 (4 items).
    Contents includes news clippings, photographs of productions and performers, pamphlets, posters, event programmes, letters, greeting cards and various written memorabilia. The collection is a valuable source of information about the history of ballet in Cork and Ireland, and in particular about Joan Denise Moriarty, teacher, founder and leading member of the Cork Ballet Company.
