Content & Structure
Scope & Content: Mallow Town Council (formerly Fermoy Urban District Council (1902-2001)) ↴
The records of Mallow Urban District Council do not cover all years of the UDC’s existence, and no minute books prior to 1966 are present, although the collection includes earlier Manager’s Orders and Town Clerk’s correspondence. Other records, including rates and financial books from the 1920s on, provide a partial overview of the Council’s activities. Also, the provision and rental of public housing, sanitary work, and the operation of the Mallow District Gas Works are well documented. In addition, there is a unique register of plots from 1946, relating to allotments or market gardens. In summary, the records present include the following:
Rates and valuation records, 1922-85;
Financial records, including wages, 1916-88;
Administrative records, including minutes, orders, and correspondence, 1930-81;
Housing records, including rentals, 1906-85;
Sanitary records, including report books, and registers of dairymen and slaughter licences, 1924-77;
Gas Works records, 1945-60;
Petroleum Registers (licensing of retailers), 1932-42;
Register of Plots (Market Gardens), 1946
