The collection comes from Linehan’s pub, Youghal, Co. Cork [now called Moby Dick’s]. During the shooting of Moby Dick on location in Youghal in 1954, Linehan’s pub was used as the base for the production’s Art Department. The donor’s father Tom Linehan salvaged the production material from the Department after production ended. Tom’s brother Paddy Linehan took photographs during the production which are also present. -

The production material includes handdrawn plans with layouts and elevations of the New Bedford set and the Spouter Inn; photographs of scale models of the set; and designs for various props.The photographs taken by Paddy Linehan depict Youghal during the production, and include shots of Gregory Peck, Noel Purcell, and Linehan’s pub. A souvenir programme from the premiere of the film at the Regal Cinema, Youghal is also present.
