Born and educated in Dublin, Wilbraham Fitzjohn Trench became Professor of English Literature in Queen's College Galway in 1899, retiring from the position in 1912 before taking up a similar position in Trinity College Dublin the following year. He was also a founder member of the Galway Archaeological and Historical Society in 1900, and the material here is associated with his work with the society. -

Hand-written transcripts of Liber B of the Galway Corporation Books, with amendments and annotations, written by Professor W F Trench. There is also some correspondence with Martin Blake, then editor of the “Journal of the Galway Archaeological and Historical Society”, in relation to the transcripts, which are published in volume 5 of the Journal.
