Join the Irish Archives Resource and become a contributor today!

Becoming a contributor allows Archive Services on the island of Ireland to upload collection level descriptions to the IAR database. This helps researchers from all over the world who may not otherwise find your collection. By making your collections available on the IAR you can reach new users and provide researchers with the opportunity to make connections between collections in different Archives Services throughout Ireland.

There is no cost for contributing and the process is straightforward, with helpful tips to assist contributors with the submission of descriptions. Contributors also have the opportunity to upload images of records alongside their descriptions to showcase highlights from their collection. Please note that all descriptions must be compliant with the General International Standard of Archival Description, ISAD(g).

If you require advice or assistance, our moderators are here to help, please contact us at moderator@iar.ie

Contributors also have the opportunity to post archival content or other relevant information on the IAR blog and social media platforms. This is a great way to celebrate the valuable collections that Archives Services have to share with the public.

The IAR also provides educational resources and works to highlight the archival collections and documents of our contributors that can facilitate school curriculums, north and south, through the publication of Educational Resource Packs and Documents in Focus.
